Cypress Landing Real Estate

Greetings from beautiful Eastern North Carolina and Cypress Landing!

Cypress Landing is a community of 720 homesites and approximately 600 homes. The community has been rated among the "Top 20 Retirement Communities in the US" by New Horizons Magazine. Located on the expansive Chocowinity Bay, boaters are less than a mile from the Pamlico River which feeds into the Pamlico Sound.

"Chocowinity" is an Indian word meaning, "fish in many waters." The word certainly lives up to its name. Fish, particularly trout, flounder, croaker and others are in abundance. During the fall season, it is not uncommon for anglers to catch 50 pound drum or 200 pound tarpon near the junction of the Pungo River and Pamlico Sound.

Cypress Landing is much more than fishing. The amenities include the 222-slip state-of-the-art floating marina, the four-star Bill Love signature golf course, an amazing fitness center with a lap pool, and the main pool near the Bay Club is a favorite among residents. The community also has walking trails, tennis courts, and a deli at the golf club. The Cypress Landing community is made even more beautiful with the tall pines and oaks, and the numerous lakes that meander through the properties.

When people think of Eastern North Carolina, many are concerned about low elevations and flood-plains. Cypress Landing alleviates those fears with most homesites being 25-35 above the water level. Flood insurance is not required in the community. The waterfront portions of Cypress Landing offer incredible views of the bay. Occasionally you will see pin oaks along the banks bedecked with spanish moss, reminding the viewer that we are truly in the South.

And, South it is! Friendly folks in little historic towns, like the Original Washington, named after General George Washington before he became President. Washington is the county seat of Beaufort (pronounced, bow-fert) County, and is home to many festivals inlcluding Music in the Streets, held monthly from April through October, Smoke on the Water, 4th of July, and other parades and events.

The Metro area of Greenville, consisting of almost 200,000, is the major area for shopping. It is located less than 30 minutes from Cypress Landing. Vidant Medical Center is nationally-recognized for its advanced medical facilities, complete with a new state-of-the-art Heart Center, cancer treatment center and children's hospital. East Carolina University has an enrollment of over 28,000, and Pitt Community College is one of the largest in the state with an enrollment of over 8,000.
